Indie Rock

Indie Rock is a music genre that was originated in the U.K and the U.S back in the 80's. It is considered to be part of the alternative rock genre. In its origins it was characterized by the fact that they worked pretty much independently, from releasing albums to media choices. Interestingly enough, back in the 80's Indie rock and alternative rock were considered as being pretty much the same. As alternative rock evolved into mainstream success, Indie Rock songs remained as the underground version of it. Later, in the 90's this particular genre continued to show its disinterest in being part of the alternative rock industry as such. Appealing large audiences from the mainstream has never been a goal of this genre.
